Derek Sakaguchi

Derek is a respected business and community leader whose career has been dedicated to strengthening organizations, creating pathways for success, and supporting long-term community well-being throughout Hawaiʻi. With leadership experience spanning community development, corporate management, construction, telecommunications, nonprofit administration, and entrepreneurship, he brings a broad perspective and a practical understanding of how effective organizations can create meaningful and lasting impact.

 

Throughout his career, Derek has served in executive leadership roles across both the private and nonprofit sectors. As Chairman and President of the Native Hawaiian Community Development Corporation, he has worked to support initiatives that promote community advancement and economic opportunity. His previous leadership positions include President and Chief Executive Officer of Alu Like Enterprises, Inc., Vice President and General Manager of Nuvuk Construction, LLC, and senior management roles in telecommunications, nonprofit administration, and business operations.

 

In addition to his executive experience, Derek has founded and led business and nonprofit initiatives focused on service, entrepreneurship, and community support. His work reflects a longstanding commitment to creating pathways that help individuals, families, and organizations succeed while contributing to stronger and more resilient communities.
